“I’ve been overweight for several years – after I moved to Spain I became very relaxed in my eating habits. I had no energy and my joints were in constant pain from rheumatoid arthritis. I managed to lose a stone on my own, but the real inspiration to lose weight came when my brother announced he was getting married - I wanted to look amazing for the big day.

“I was sceptical at first about joining bodyOPTIMISE because I thought I’d need the support of a group, but the site is brilliant. After I got the hang of Food Optimising I’d log in every few days, but I quickly found that it helped my weight loss if I logged on every day for support. I love the recipes and features and I enjoy the success stories as they really inspire me and keep me going.

*“When we dine out, Spanish style, I enjoy a starter such as ‘ensalada mixta’ (a large mixed salad), or ‘mejillones con ajo al a plancha sin aciete’ (grilled mussels with garlic and no oil). For my main course I enjoy chicken, or maybe fish. Vegetable paella is tasty for a Green day. Even tapas fits in with Food Optimising - seafood salad, pork in tomato sauce or tortilla are all great choices.
 
“When we have visitors we enjoy barbecues with lots of marinated chicken, pork and fish, using herbs and spices, served with roasted peppers, onions, mushrooms, courgettes, jacket potatoes and salad. Our friends can’t believe I’m following a healthy eating plan because of all the food I eat!
 
“I have so much energy now. My rheumatoid arthritis used to be terrible in winter but since losing all this weight I have very little pain at all. I really enjoy dancing - I started a modern jive class two years ago but it used to kill me the following day. Now I can dance all night and I’m not in pain. I used to get out of breath when I took the dogs for a walk, now I can walk for miles with them.
