We've highlighted all the Free Food - those foods that are so filling, satisfying and slimming that when Food Optimising you can eat them in unlimited quantities!

On an Original day Free Foods are coloured RED and include loads of lean meat, poultry, fish, eggs, vegetables and fruit

On a Green day all those foods that can be enjoyed freely are coloured GREEN - including pasta, rice, potatoes, grains, pulses, eggs, vegetables and fruit.

Choose...

Once* each day from the following Healthy Extra 'a' list:
• 350ml skimmed milk, 250ml semi-skimmed milk, 175ml whole milk
• 28g Cheddar, Edam, Emmental, Gouda, Gruyere or Parmesan
• 42g Mozzarella, reduced fat Cheddar/Cheshire
*We've incorporated 1 Healthy Extra 'a' choice into either breakfast or lunch, leaving you free to use your second however you choose
Health-giving, fibre-rich Healthy Extra 'b' choices have been built into the menus. Where you see a weight, portion size or measurement you will be eating a Healthy Extra.

NB: A serving of bread is either 2 slices of wholemeal bread from a small 400g loaf or 57g wholemeal roll.

Between 5-15 Syns every day! Some meals have built-in suggestions, but feel free to substitute your favourites. We've included some popular choices here...

Handy hints...

  • Trim all visible fat off meat and remove all skin from poultry.
  • Cook your food in any way as long as no fat or oil is added.
  • Vegetables can be fresh, canned or frozen.
  • Black tea/coffee and low-cal drinks, fat-free vinaigrette/French salad dressings and all herbs and spices can be used freely.
  • Fresh fruit and veg is vital to health. We recommend that you eat at least five portions each day - it shouldn't be hard, fresh and frozen fruit is Free! Fill your fruit bowl. Experiment with exotic fruits such as kiwi, passion fruit and mango.
